The Children's Inn at NIH recently opened a transitional home for families and their children who have surpassed the maximum length of stay at The Inn. The Woodmont House, is "a place like home" for up to five families whose children are no longer in the acute phase of their illnesses, yet still require treatment at the National Institutes of Health¹s Clinical Center.

Previously, families were asked to move into the community at their own expense and with few supportive resources. As housing in the Bethesda area is both expensive and limited, parents often resorted to rented rooms or basementsless than ideal for an immuno-compromised child. The Woodmont House, located on Woodmont Avenue immediately adjacent to the NIH campus, now provides a free, convenient and safe home and allows families to participate in all of The Inn¹s activities.
