The Children’s Inn is happy to introduce a new four-legged resident, Vi Mars, a furry, yellow Labrador therapy dog, donated by Mars, Incorporated in hopes of lifting the spirits of The Inn’s more vulnerable residents.

Vi, a retired Seeing Eye dog, came to The Inn at the end of 2008, bringing lots of tail-wagging cheer as well as the media spotlight. Vi has made fast friends with the residents at The Inn. She enjoys giving wet kisses and playing with her new friends, many of whom reach exactly to her eye level.

Mars, Incorporated, the world’s largest maker of candy and pet food, generously donated Vi, along with a lifetime supply of food, training and care.

Special thanks to trainer Al Marx, of Obedience Works, LLC, and Inn Board Member, Holly Cobb Parker, for donating their time and services to ensure Inn residents will get the most from their pet therapy experience. VI successfully passed the Delta Certification test making her a Certified Animal-Assisted Therapy Dog. This allows her to support our families at both the Clinical Center and at The Inn.
